inVISIBLE

'Blink and you'll miss it'

inVISIBLE is a series of virtual work that takes on different forms such as sculpture, installation, performance, lectures etc.

As the title suggests, the work itself is invisible but only in relative terms. inVISIBLE is based on the idea of a Photoshop file with several layers, some are visible, some are not visible. The minor difference is that the visibility of each layers is timed, i.e. based on an algorithm the individual layers 'switch off and on' making the work VISIBILE for a fraction of a second before it disappears again.

It is paramount that ther is:

  1. no display of any kind at the event space
  2. no mention of it in the official program of art events/fairs etc.
  3. no advertising except on my personal website, my social media channels and one digital flyer to announce the work

In general the work is based on audience participation.

inVISIBLE #2 - Angry Voices
10 Sep 2016 - 05.02.2017

10th Taipei Biennial

Angry Voices is a sound installation of 122 recordings selected from over 500 participants world-wide. Each participants recorded up to 10 minutes of angry thoughts ranging from racist theories to problems between husband and wife. The recordings have been sent in digital as well as in analogue form to me. Over the duration of 9 months I carefully selected and put together 122 of the recordings. The number itself does not have any great significance, it is merely the number of recordings that somehow fit my initial idea for the project. The recording devices are hidden behind walls, mirrors, ceilings and are even being carried around by several local participants.

Volunteers will be carrying small audio devices that playback the individual recordings. Every recording will only be 10 times before the recording auto-destructs. There is no back-up for the recordings, they will be forever lost.
